UVES is owned and operated by Dr. Kristen Clapp. Kristen is from Long Island, NY where she was brought up riding and showing hunter/jumpers. She trained and owned her off the track Thoroughbred “Puck” for about 15 years. It was through riding and growing up working on a small farm on LI that Kristen learned at a very young age that she wanted to devote her career to veterinary medicine. Kristen graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College on Prince Edward Island in 2011. In her final year she focused on both equine dentistry and reproduction. She then moved to Northern Vermont where she completed a one-year equine internship at Vermont Large Animal Clinic-Equine Hospital. During this year, Kristen was their only intern and benefited in becoming trained in Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency cases both in the field and in the hospital. After the completion of her internship she moved to Southern Vermont where she briefly worked in a hospital providing both small animal and equine medicine. She was then given the opportunity to work for Cross Border Equine Center in Springfield, VT for 2 years where she could work solely with large animals, predominately horses. Kristen is very excited to now be offering her services through Upper Valley Equine Services. She is happy to serve the horse population in this area and build strong lasting relationships with her clients. When Kristen is not out working in the field, she enjoys spending her time with her husband Ryan, son Aidan, and her four legged furry friends Henle, Stella and Tim the family dogs and cat. The larger variety Noir (an off the track Thoroughbred) and Tater Tot (her sons aged welsh cob) are the newest additions to the family as of 2018.
